Valentine Hearts Nail Art

A few weeks ago, on Valentine's day, I sported a festive manicure: white hears on a red background. The simple look seemed perfect for this sweet holiday. It was easy to create and very fun to wear.

I started with a red base using Revlon Hot Tamale. I used white acrylic paint for hearts of varying sizes and finished of the manicure with top coat, Essie Good to Go to be exact. I'd love to know, anyone else sport a festive manicure on the holiday?

Irish Argyle Inspired Nail Art

For once I'm actually early for a holiday, St. Patrick's Day that is. Ok, so I didn't have festive in mind when creating this nail art look but I knew I wanted to do something with irish colors. Though I'm trying to convince myself that for once I was on top of holiday nail art.

Anyways, this look is primarily argyle inspired. It's not directly copied from an argyle pattern but rather a diamond shape pattern in altering colors. The diamonds aren't exactly perfect but I'm happy with the way it turned out. I started with a base of CND Green Scene, a gorgeous mid toned green requiring one coat for opacity. Then I added diamonds with the used of China Glaze Bermuda Breakaway with gold accents from Essie Gold as it Gets from the new Luxeffects collection.

New Years Manicure

Happy New Year! Hope all of you have a great 2012!

I wanted to create a special manicure to help me ring in the new year.

I started with two coats of OPI DS Magic. Sometime I'll have to take a picture of it alone. Unfortunately this time I was a little too lazy.

Next I applied a coat of Cult Nails Clairvoyant (aka Unicorn Puke). This was my first Cult Nails polish and I absolutely love it. I can see myself buying many more in the future.

Next, I painted 2012, one number on each nail, on my index to pinkie nail. I replaced the zero with a picture of the new years eve ball they drop at midnight in New York City. I used a combination of silver polishes to create it. The rest of the numbers were done with black polish topped with silver glitter. For the thumb nail I tried to make it like confetti was being thrown using OPI Rainbow Connection.

(Hope you can make the numbers out clearly)

Anyways, hope you had a great year and even better year this year,

I'm not one for making many resolutions but I have a few ones for this blog:
1.) I definitely want to post more often and be on a more organized schedule for it.

2.) I want to take better pictures and make sure I have enough light for my photos.

3.) I want to create a distinct image for this blog with more uniform posts.

These resolutions will definitely be a work in process over the year but I hope I can say I've accomplished them by the end of year.

Did you celebrate the new year with a themed manicure? What are some of your resolutions?
